The top Outlook Add-ins for Office 365 – as rated by users
Office 365 Add-ins for Outlook are rapidly becoming the go-to integration technology for SAAS platforms which need to integrate with Outlook. In a little over three years over 400 significant SAAS products have integrated their systems using Add-in technology.
Who are publishing Add-ins?
The list of Add-in publishers reads like a who’s who of SAAS applications. SalesForce, Hubspot, Evernote, Trello… the list goes on – with many popular, high rated Add-ins published by names we all know. But it also includes a number of lesser known or newer SAAS applications taking advantage of the integration benefits for their users.
What are Add-ins?
Office 365 Add-ins let you integrate Outlook with other applications. Add-ins differ from the older ‘Plugin’ technology in several significant ways.
- Office 365 Add-ins operate in all Outlook client technologies including Outlook for Mac, Outlook Web Access (Browser) and Mobile versions of Outlook.
- Office 365 Add-ins are not installed on a local machine – but are ‘attached’ to the user’s Mailbox – meaning installation and support is much simpler.
Add-ins can be quickly found and installed by a user or administrator from the Microsoft store. Versions of Outlook which can utilise Add-ins have a store icon in their ribbon, so finding and installing Add-ins takes only a few clicks.
Given the advantages, its not surprising that SAAS businesses are seeing the benefits and developing integrations based on Add-ins.
Top Add-ins for Outlook
We analysed the Microsoft Office Store in April 2018, and used the results to rank Add-ins for Outlook based on users ratings, and the number of reviews. So our Top add-ins have a combination of high ratings and lots of reviews.
In the Microsoft Store, ratings are a scored out of 5 by the users when they leave a review. There were no add-ins with more than 100 reviews with an average rating less than 3 (or higher than 4).
So here are all the Add-ins for Outlook which had achieved over 100 reviews when we did the initial survey (April 2018):
